it cks out in the book. Last three of the vin match, the year and car# both match, as well as it should be a coupe.

More info along with paper documentation is available from saleen.

2000 S281 SC convertible (Red on Black)
VIN: 1FAFP45X2YF221097
BUILD NUMBER: 473

&

2002 S281 SC convertible (Blue on Black)
VIN: 1FAFP45X82F193409
BUILD NUMBER: 647

Also,

Should all superchargers be black for the 2002 model? Was there a grey color charger that looked similar to the 1999-2001 model also for the 2002?

Which is more desirable & why? 1999-2001 or 2002-2003 models?

Thanks

I can recommend that anyone looking to get into Saleen vehicles should pick up a copy of The Saleen Book by Brad Bowling. It's a great place to start. A great book for only $60.00. http://www.bradbowling.com/

You can read over the different models, years, and see what calls out at you.

Stock, all the factory 1999-2004 S281 SC cars get positive reviews.

The 2003-2004 has the black Lysholm, 2001-2002 has the Saleen Series II Eaton, 1999-2000 has the Series I Eaton, both silver.

If you're going for a particular exterior color or option group, this could sway you from one year to other.

If you're looking into low production, 1999 and 2004 were low production years. 2000-2003 Saleen cranked out both the S281 and S281 SC models in quantity.

Hello I am looking into a 2002 S281 Coupe.

The vin # is 1FAFP42X32F134708 And the production# is 166. Thank you in advance for your help.

The car has 42K miles which is kinda high. What do you think I should offer if I look further into the vehicle?

What is the asking price? See what the NADA Guide says. From the top of my head... $16,000-$18,000. I could be off.

Last three vin-708
P42 coupe
Ship Date 12-06-01
Chromw wheels

I really don't believe that 6k miles a year avg is very high, and as far as the value it's kindof a crap shoot right now, alot of owners are still valuing thier cars more than the market. You might check NADA. Also if you like the car and you like the deal do it

and if you do pls post some pics.

Thank you for your quick response. Asking price is 15,900. I plan on taking it to my buddys shop to get everything looked over since it has a little bit higher mileage.
