15K for a paint job? It does look sick, but it doesn't have any graphics or anything so why would it cost that much? Say it even cost 3K in products, that leaves 12K for labor?? Can someone please explain this?

Extreme Rainbow, Beryllium, and some of the other wacky colors that Saleen does requires a complete strip of the engine bay in order to paint it to match. Not to mention the tedious tasks of sanding the car and intricate areas (door/trunk jambs) and masking the complete car. These colors are MULTI layer processes of color and clearcoat to get the effect - so 3-5K of materials and 10-12K of labor is probably about right.

I agree with you somewhat Sowaxeman, but a I'd guess there's a sizable markup for exclusivity in there too. Just comes with the Saleen territory.

I never thought about having to strip the engine bay. I would still think there is at least a few grand profit in each paint job.

They are in business to make a profit after all. I do agree it is an exclusivity issue.
