Here is what is going on with my 06 S281E
I was in line to get the first Extreme on the market, but I am waiting til this summer. The reason for this is I want the 19' wheel option with the Perelli Corsa tire option, and they won't start producing E cars with this option til this summer. -For whatever reason I don't know. But I am quite set on the 19' rim option. -For a couple reasons. One is that right now E cars come with the same rubber as S281sc's. It looks like the 19' wheels will have wider rubber in back, and better, stickier rubber that stock Saleens. (the Corsa tire is an all out, dry performance tire) Another reason I want the 19's is there are more and better rubber options in 19 vs 20'.
So, i will be patient, and wait for the 19's to come out. (Also, with 19's it will be faster than with the 20's)

I was thinking of doing the same thing, BUT than realized that I would hardly ever really race the car. I would be cruising and pushing it here and there. So instead of paying $1500 for the chrome wheel option or more for the 19" wheel option I decided to buy a really nice set of custom chrome wheels to go on my s281-e.

A question for Birdieman. What has been done to make these cars Extreme compared to the n/a and the SC version? I am considering converting my 05 S281 n/a to an extreme version. I know there are forged parts. What parts and do you know who is the manufacturer of these parts? I know it will have Saleen (Brembo) brakes, but what else? What boost are they planning? What gears?
Thanks

The Extreme has extensive modifications including:
12+ lbs of boost creating 550+hp and 500 lbft torque
forged pistons, rods, crank
modified fuel system including injectors and pump
modified cams
modified air intake including larger MAF
new clutch and aluminum flywheel
15" brake kit (not Brembo)
modified driveshaft
4.10 Gears
6-speed manual transmission
max-grip limited slip differential
carbon fiber lip and diffuser
and other optional parts on SC are standard on E

The "smart-money" decision would be to sell what you've got and buy the EXTREME. The cost to replicate would far exceed the original build price and you'd still only have a "cloned" EXTREME (limited resale value).
We are currently reliving the glory days of the late 60's muscle car era.....if you could go back then would you buy an original BOSS mustang or try to make a ponycar into one? Remember, these are investment decisions as well as pride of ownership decisions.....
