Default Cold vs. mass

Here's some stupid questions: Cold Air Intake vs. Mass Air Intake? What is the difference? Which is the best. I have a 2003 Supercharged Saleen

"Mass air" usually involves the point of the tube, or a seperate piece where the actual air meter is. "Cold air" usually refers to the whole tube intake system. However, the "cold air" verbage is abused regularly, is the setup really pulling in "cold air"?
