....can you? Yes. Why would you?? EXTREME is most uses signifies the "outer limits" of something (big, heavyduty, large, maximum, etc.)

I doubt if Saleen left anything on the drawing board for you to discover.

As Viper said - you'd be crazy to do anything to it. Maybe a nice looking CAI, valve covers and headers to improve on the LOOKS under the hood, but from a performance standpoing what the hell more do you need over 550hp [&:]

And I wish you would have left your age out of this becuse I'm sure the slams will be coming your way. If you have that kind of money at 17, or your parents are buying it for you I sure hope you aren't as irresponsible as the rich/spoiled 17 years olds that I knew in HS. Don't get me wrong, I wish I was that lucky as a kid - just BE SMART, as ANY car is enought to get you in trouble or killed. A 550hp S281 Extreme is just a more expensive way to do it.

And if you do get it I sure as hell wouldn't drive it to school - I can just see the less fortunate ***-wipe now that thinks it would be cool to key your car [:@][:@]

Its hard to not sound like a noob when you are only 17 and still a noob to the board

Good luck

Hey KO, go do some reserch on the extreme and then I think you will reliaze what needs to be done to the car, Im sure you will see that nothing will need to be done.

what year and number is yours? I added a pulley, tune, and boost-a-pump, off road pipe, and mgb shifter. I gained roughly 50 hp and 92 ft lb tq.

Where in the original post did he say he owns an E? It also didn't mention a year so was he asking about a 2002 (425hp), 2003-2004 (445hp), or a 2006 (550hp)? I know, probably the 2006 but it makes a big difference.

I'd agree that the new E doesn't need much, and since some mods would void the warrantee, modding it probably isn't the smartest thing to do. I'm sure there's more power in there somewhere though. Some people will also say that you shouldn't mod it because of its rarity, but that doesn't speak to whether or not it can be (it can). Now the 02-04 extremes have a lot of potential in them and are begging for some simple mods to really bring out the beast, and with a one year warrantee, most are out of warrantee and can be modded to your hearts content. A pulley and a tune will net a nice jump in hp. How does 50 hp for $400 sound? Not a bad deal.

Whether or not to mod a car is and should be a personal decision. There are of course consequences to modding any car (resale value, warrantee, damage, cost, etc.) but if you own it, you decide.

In keeping the original cats on the car, as well as it's exhaust, I would go with a shortie ceramic coated hedder. JBA makes an excellent one, and the ceramic coating is key in fighting higher engine compartment temps. But, on a benefit vs. cost standpoint, it won't give you that much more power. You will get some sound, though.
