Default Painting the side mirrors?

Guys,

Looking at the car today, I wondered how much of a difference painting the side mirrors to match the rest of the car would have?

Has anyone done this and if so have you before and after pictures. I have a Vista Blue S/C and am thinking of doing this.

I thought about doing the same thing. They do sell inserts to cover most of the mirror and they are fairly cheap. Could buy them and put them on to see how they look. Since you have a Saleen my personal choice would be to keep them black since the car has a lot of flat black already on it.

Agreed ^ I considered doing the painted covers, but the more I thought about it the more I wanted to keep the car as close to 100% original as possible. Plus the just flow very well with all the other black accents on the Saleens.

But, if you must I think the covers are cheaper than prepping and painting the entire mirror.

All the other black accents? I only have side window covers and hood vents that are black? I have looked at the covers but they make the mirrors look too bulky IMHO. As they are only OEM Mustang mirrors and not Saleen specific then I am not too bothered about painting the actual mirror. If it was the side window trim or something specific to Salenn then yes I agree I would keep it factory.

Maybe I'll be the guniea pig and do it then post to see what ya reckon....

By black accents I was referring to the black grill, black trim on the 1/4 windows, black hood vents, and blackout on the rear.

I'm sure its been done by several Saleen owners and I'm sure it would like great

Don't forget the tires are black too!

I think painted mirrors would look good. I've seen some pictures of some GTs with them painted.

edit: Looking at my pic in my sig I realized my stripes are black.

If you drive your car a lot don't clean the exhaust tips and they will turn a nice dark black as well.

Just my personal opinion, but I think the black plastic mirrors, like the one-piece black antenna with its awkward giant plastic base, are really cheap-looking and detract from the look of the car. The clip-on mirror covers look even worse, IMHO, because then you end up with a two-tone effect--why didn't they make them full covers?? Surely there is a way to do that.

I want to address both the mirrors and the antenna over the next few months. If anybody has BTDT, please post or PM. Thanks.
