If you are staying with short tube headers, I'd go with JBA ceramic equal length shorties and Bassani stainless catted x-pipe.

So you guys think a bassani h-pipe with hi flow cats would do the trick. What about headers. I could just do the whole exhaust the first time in the shop. Could do all kooks or all bassani. Haven't heard either so I don't know the difference.

Really leaning towards the H-pipe, but a lot of people are saying the x-pipe would be better.

I've heard the opposite for these new 3v motors from many people- H sounds better than X. I think they both sound good, but the X tends to be a little raspier. I wouldn't waste your money on headers unless you are doing long tubes.

I agree with sowaxeman. I had a friend that had an X put on and as soon as he heard it he had it taken off. He said it was too raspy and not as deep of an exhaust note.

It's a personal preference, though...

I would do the H-Pipe / though I am doing a o/r x pipe next week...But I am looking for loud!!lol
+1. I too am installing an off-road X-Pipe. Iwould not do headers, as the HP gain is minimal, cost is substantial, and the labor too intensive come smog time. With the off-road X-pipe SC cars are getting at least 8 RWHP, WAY better sound, car sheds quite a bit of weight (at least 20 pounds), and still not too loud with the mufflers on. Entire install takes 30 minutes tops with a lift. One does need to use a SCT or other tuner to turn off the rear O2 sensors to avoid a check engine light...

Glad to see your driving it now, let us know what you decide to install and what it sounds like. I keep thinking I might want to change mine, but I'mnot sure. So test the waters for us will ya.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Definitely! I plan on doing a couple of things by March. Goal is to have 550-575RWHP. What do you guys think about the Mac Prochamber midpipe?

Hey 281E.....do you have an 06 EXTREME? Just curious,, I do and love the sound coming out of mine. Don't see any reason to change it. Loud enough and very different exhaust note than other cars out there. Good luck on your quest!

Yea, I have an 06 extreme. I am mainly asking because JDM is offering an extreme kit and in the package you get a full exhuast from kooks. Kinda wondering how its going to change to sound. It sounds nice now and I'm hoping it just gets a little louder. I should be getting a sound clip tomorrow. Not as good as the real thing but it will have to do for now.
