3.73 is what I've been leaning towards anyways. I just get that occasional "professional" opinion here and there that makes me become indecisive.
That will definitely be the way to go especially considering that it is a daily driver and you do both highway and city driving. It will definitely be putting your power to the road much quicker than your 3.08's. And on top of that you will still be able to use your 1st gear!! lol....good luck with your decision, hope we helped
Im sorry but after reading those other guys opinions, they dont know what the f*ck they are talking about..."go big or go home"..yea that sounds educated...come on man r u serious...those guys have no idea what theyre talking about...just trying to help u
Now here is another board's opions: http://www.mustang-world.com/forums/...d.php?t=486644
Copy the above link, paste it in your address bar and remove the dash between mustang and world. Sorry, it wouldn't show up correctly when I just copied and pasted it on here. If I broke a board rule, just let me know.
I know you don't drag your car but a rule thump in racing is you go the tallest gear you can for your trap speed. You can run arund 130 mph with 4.10's and still cross the traps in 4th.
No way no how are you anywhere near that range with your mods so the 4.10's are a no brainer for racing. Hell, I'd get 4.30's but that's cause I like to race.
In your case from what you described, I would say the 3.73's would probably be the best bet for you. However, saying first gear is useless on 4.10's or saying your rpm's will be crazy is just not true. There are always variables. 1st gear will hold fine with some good rubber on the street but you don't strike me as a guy who wants to run 555R's on the street and be changing expensive tires every 10K miles. The truth is the difference in rpm between 3.73 and 4.10 at 80 mph is about 300-400 rpm so it's not a huge difference.
The 4.10's will give you more seat of the pants thrill and make your car feel way faster but from what you've described and what gear you have now, the 3.73 will also be a big improvement and be better suited for you I believe.
Remember when you are reading opinions onthe internet, they are usally not considering what you want to do with the car and commenting on what is the best they personally would like to have. That's why you have so many 4.10 pro comments.
Yeah, I would normally say 4.10's also but for what you laid out - I would recommend the 3.73's
