Default Parnelli Jones S/C?

I saw a PJ Saleen for sale at performance autosport and it got me thinking. Could you supercharge the PJ and get a lot more HP out of it? I mean...it's 400 N/A right now....so I was wondering if you could just drop in a supercharger with a small pulley and put down 500 or so....

Is it blasphemy to even THINK of doing that? I know it's a limited edition 1 of 500 blah blah blah, but it could be a beast with a supercharger and might give the E a run for its money...

In theory it could be done. Does anyone know the compression. I bet it's on the high side which would really limit safe boost. I don't think it's sacreligious.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the PJ is begging for nitrous.

I'm willing to bet a supercharged 5.0 from Saleen is on the way.

I wouldn't take that bet - i've heard that from a reputable source However the PJ engine has a high compression so SC'ing an actual PJ might be risky. I think we are going to see a more tamely compressed 302 soon that will be thirsting for some boost

Ahh grasshoppa, Let me link you to my very first post in this section many moons ago....

https://mustangforums.com/m_2132146/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm

It's a thread I started before I got the PJ (think back to pre Nov 2006.....) The group decided it probably wasn't a good idea with the high compression of the 302. There may me another alternative in a slightly detuned version as others have noted.

Search is good

Cheers,

Chuck
