Default 2008 Roush 428R Mustang Newbie Questions

I just discovered the Roush Mustangs and would like to purchase a 428R model, but I have a few questions about them since I haven't been following the Mustangs for many years.

How fast is one of these Roush Mustangs? I would expect 1/4 mile times somewhere in the high 13 second range if the car can hook up. Are the Roush Mustangs selling very well? I seem to have found quite a few at a dealership in southern Utah and many more atanother dealershipin Phoenix Arizona. The list price of about$46,000.00 doesn't seem out of line with the amount of performance add ons that these cars have, but why are the dealers so eager to drop the price by a few thousand dollars? I am planning on driving this car and not looking at it as a collector item, but having a limited production tuner car is kind of nice.

If you want a limited edition tuner car: http://saleen.com/saleen-s281rf.htm

Not bad at all IMO for the price. What stage is that Roush?

The 428R will (should) run 12's in the quarter. Stock GT's run 13.6's.

The Roush Mustang was a Stage 3 and I think I can still get it for a few hundred less than what I was quoted on Saturday. Jack Roush had signed the radiator cover on this car the week before,so that is nice to have.

I haven't been following Mustangs for many years, but this car caught my eye. It is Vista Blue with white striping. I didn't think it would be as fast as it is, but it seems to have a lot of torque. I drove my friends SVT Cobra Mustanga couple of years agoand it doesn't seem to have as much low end poweras this Roush Mustang. I almost had the Roush car sideways when I was getting on to I-15 during the test drive. The car seems to have the power to break the reartires loose in first gear without any problem.

I seem to be doing things the wrong way with this car. As a buyer, I should do my research before I look at the vehicle and start trying to make a deal. I haven't signed anything or put any money down, but one of the salemen has already called me back, so I think they are interested in selling me this car.

You just ruined my day with the Saleen link. Too bad that car is out of my price range, because it has much better features than the Roush car. Roush didn't put a good gauge package in their car and the Saleen car has the features and the looks that I like. I am not a collector and just want something that goes very fast and doesn't require a lot of special care to drive every day.

Def can't go wrong with the Saleen. Don't get me wrong the Roush is nice too!

Either way, whatever you end up getting, the 05+ platform is good enough to make the power you want and provide you with many different options in being unique.

If you want the Roush name and a 1/4 runner, look at a Stage 3 drag pack. The R series cars from Roush are made for all around street use, not straight line acceleration.

I just want a nice all around street machine. I stopped drag racing many years ago and don't want to get back into it, but good straight line acceleration is fun if you don't get to crazy. My wife likes the way the Roush car drives and it reminds her of the1969 Mach I that she had many years ago.

I have driven both and I like Saleen's suspension much better. But different people look for different things in suspension. I say dedicate a day or two and just go around test driving different ones. Once you narrow it down see if either dealer will let you "test drive" it to the other dealer and set them side by side and see which you like better.
