Ever since I got my S281 in 2007, it had the stupid steering wheel shimmy. As I put more miles on the car, the shimmy got worse. At first the shimmy was slight but I could live with it. As the car reached roughly 18,000 miles early this year, the shimmy was so bad that it vibrated my arms as I tried to hold the steering wheel steady - I had to do something.

I decided to look at my front tires and I noticed the inside edge of the tire did not look right. I ran my hands across the tire and the inside treads were raised and wavy. I took the car to a local tire shop and had them look at the front end. The tech put the car on the alignment rack and found the camber was way out on the negative side. He told me that Ford uses a non-adjustable camber setting on the Mustang and that lowering a new Mustang requires a camber kit to bring the camber back within specs after lowering. I then ordered a simple ecentric camber bolt kit from Summit Racing and took it back to the shop. After the shop got the camber correct and installed 2 new front tires - the shimmy was totally gone. My car now has 26,000 miles and my front tires are not messed up on the inside edge like they were before I corrected the camber situation. I thank the guy at the tire shop for bringing the camber problem to my attention. I just can't believe that Steve Saleen lowered these cars and did not compensate for the change in camber due to the lowering. I know Mr. Saleen knew Ford used a fixed camber setting on the Mustang still he let the cars leave with seriously negative camber. I know he also knew about the adjustable camber kits made for the Mustang, why he did'nt correct the camber is beyond me. I find this oversight unacceptable on a car that cost as much as a Saleen. I also find it unacceptable that a car with a supposed "racing" heritage would have such a defect as incorrect camber. Saleen also made the same mistake in the rear by keeping the stock panhard bar on a lowered Mustang. My entire rearend is shifted to the drivers side and is not centered. The rearend is doing this because it needs an adjustable panhard bar. With the car being lowered, the stock panhard bar is not locating the rearend correctly.

Use a the biggest motorcraft battery you can find, its better than any ****ty sealed aftermarket battery. Trust me on that. There's really no reason why your battery should be going bad or draining. If your car is an extreme or has a custom saleen paint job there is a chance when it was put back together something was grounded out causing that problem. Even if thats not the case I would check that out, as that should not happen, period.

The steering wheel shimmy comes from bad quality rotors from stoptech, and equally terrible pads. Upgrade to Porterfield R4S pads all the shimmy should be gone if you seat them properly. You will still get some level of squeel from the rotors though.

My apologies if this was answered somewhere in here already. I read through it, but could have very well missed it.

I had 2 Motorcraft batteries and a Die Hard go out in mine. My alarm and Lo Jack drain it in about 3 weeks if I don't run the car fro a bit. I also seem to remember that, at least with the 2005 Mustangs, that leaving the car stereo on when cutting the car off leaves the amps on and will drain the battery. I am not sure if this problem was fixed in 2006 or 2007.

Default snow looking pieces on floor under front seats

I have gotten with Ford and Saleen on the seats leaving snow looking pieces on the carpet under the front seats. Ford has a recall on this, it is the metal braket that is sharp and cutting into the padding everytime you sit in the seats. The fix is to bend the metal back and under replace the padding and bolsters. Well the company that makes the bolsters are &()&** holes they first wanted to mail the seats to them to fix, then they said Saleen would have to do it, know they are checking into the closes autherized dealer of theres to me to fix. This has been going on for 5 months. Jasson SCOA and I will be doing a write up on this and im taking pictrues of the seat being tore down and put back together, I will not leave the side of my Saleen. I think they told me it was the 2005 and some 2006 Saleens this recall was on, call your local Saleen dealer with your vin # and ask.
