WOW guys - I didn't know we had such good participation on this forum
What?! Come on -give me some credit there Pres.....I've been promoting the SCOA in here fornearly 3 years now [8D]
Browse our website and you will see that we are growing just about every day Our calendar of events has grown SIGNIFICANTLY since I joined back in '05. Our events are both fun and relaxing - I can't speak for the other regions (but I'm sure they are alllike minded folks with similar events) but I know I honestly just can't wait for the 2-3 annual events that we hold here in the Indiana area each year The Nationals will bea don't miss event this summer in Greenwood (southside of Indianapolis). We are expecting a once in a lifetime display of a very LARGE & RARE collection of fox saleens - over 30 in total owned and probably 25+ will be on display. We are expecting ~75 total Saleens at this show. I am planning events from Thursday evening until Sunday morning, so drive or fly here if you can
Now go fill out that registration/membership form [8D]

Thanks for the good words everyone, but please lets keep this focussed on SCOA and not let it turn into SOEC bashing. We are a great club with a lot of stuff happening -I just don't want us to be known as the new club on the block that is bashing the other long standing club
The great thing about these posts are, you can’t say SCOA with saying SOEC. Posts with these themes come around what, every four to eight weeks? To which I debate the validity and purpose.
No dues are going into anyone’s pockets (or saving accounts, or vehicles). A claim that’s ridiculous and borderline retarded (if not).
I can’t comment on how the office runs, cause I don’t deal with it, but I’m aware that complaints about the SOEC can range from… "where's the 2006 production stats," to... "I sent an email in 2001 and I never heard back," to… "I sent a check and it was never cashed," to… "where is my newsletter," to… "Debbie sucks."
Looking from the Internet end, I see and had discussions about those things. I’m aware there have been concern or talk from SCOA folks about the documents offered on the SOEC website. Nothing about the documents themselves, but just a dislike that the SOEC has ‘em public and not the SCOA… which then feeds the whole idea that its not the information provided that maters, but who provides it.
I’m also aware that most of the distracters for the Saleen price guide/value project came out of the SCOA. Once again… how much of it had to do with the project itself compared to how it wasn’t a SCOA originated idea to throw a parade for. Last I heard, out of a couple hundred participants… SCOA members represent less than 10.
Politics. Nothing more. Nothing less. Nothing new. Nothing going away.
I’m equally aware that if the SOEC does a future national event with Steve Saleen… there will be people saying how sucky the meet will be for no other reason than politics and bias. All normal.
I’m not the most internet friendly character out here. I see most of the web chatter as b.s. and tend to say so. To extremes of typing things about people having their heads stuffed in places or that they could be mentally challenged. All bad. With that said and knowing my history… I can also say that as an internet user and forum reader that my SCOA forum account wasn’t approved and to date the SOEC hasn’t done that or canceled an account. Which doesn’t matter I guess… I saw the thread about the Saleen GT Sports… thought I’d join, but really… I don’t want an account anymore anyhow. [:'(]
BTW: Saleen Autosport did convert a few 1989 GT convertibles. They featured the spoiler, 5 lug, 5-star AREs, 4wdbs, and Racecraft Suspension. The chevron stripe was owner added with regards to the one on Ebay. Bowling has/had photos of them sitting in Anaheim. Greg thinks they were prize cars or "give-a-ways" and Bowling calls them Sports. Subject of debate, maybe. Anyway… my answer since it was mentioned in the SCOA forum that the SOEC had a 1989 Sport listed on the site and the thread participants where debating the 1989 GT idea.
I believe you can reference "Mustang - America's Favorite Pony Car" for b&w photos of the '89 Saleened GT 'verts. Then too… I guess this doesn’t matter since it did not originate from a SCOA member, director, or God-like figure. So… forget it.
I would recommend sowaxeman’s comment… since there’s another fraction of the Saleen hobby who are currently seeing through the whole “Fun, Friendship, Saleen” motto.

Wow - Alot said there.
Jason - I am in total agreement with you. Let's not start the bashing. It does not get any of us anywhere and it disgraces both clubs.

^Exactly! Its a VERY BIG world and definitely big enough for multiple clubs. Heck I live in Indianapolis which by all means is not one of the largest cities in the country but yet large enough for two MCA affiliate clubs, and a 3rd local club is in the makings. SCOA and SOEC can definitely co-exist IMO and do good things for the Saleen heritage in their own style

Lord, that was like one of those5 hourspeaches from fidel castro. You should really just keep it short and to the point you lost half your audience 1/4 of the way through. We had a boss like this oncethree hour morning meetings and took himself too seriously eventually assales continued to decline he realized everybody had tuned him out and the speaches got longer. He eventually was fired, sad, some people get thrust into positions of power and can't handleit.
