RE: saleen extreme no book value for trade in
I am paying GT rates. They told me that is how Saleens are covered. They said once I get in an accident, I just tell them that it is a Saleen and they will pay the difference.
I think it is BS but I had no other choice so hopefully I wont be crashing it soon.

insurance is one thing. rates dont seem to change from a 30k mustang gt to a 50k saleen extreme
about trade in value...... have the window sticker and we post cars on ebay with buy it now for 70k so the other dealer sees and realizes this is the real

AL-TOON,
In cases such as this, you'd probably want the "stated value" insurance as others had suggested -- you'll have to justify value with a copy of the window sticker as Jared suggested, and you'll have to decide just how much you're willing to pay. Some companies will do "stated value" only on collector cars driven only x-number of miles or less (not a primary vehicle), so you'll probably have to shop around unless someone pipes-in with some of their experiences.
Team Saleen will provide a photocopy or scan of your window sticker for free, and at least that's a starting point for value.
As Greg said, NADA does not list the Extreme, but the information on the SC may help: http://www.nadaguides.com/ and click on the "Used Car Values" link in the right column.
It would be better to over-insure than under-insure... at least until better values are published, but basically you'll looking at window sticker minus x-amount of depreciation.

Dealers do the same type of research you would do. They find out how much they could expect to sell the car for or how much they bring in at auctions......then they give you thousands of dollars less on a trade-in so they can make money on a sale.
