problem with '02 281SC
hey I have a '02 281 sc that i bought from a friend who had had it for about a month. He had some financial troubles and had to sell it.I knew when I got it that therewere some issueswith it but it ran pretty good and the price was right. Well I've been having a hell of a time getting it to run right at all since then. First let metell you what I know about the car (which I still am finding out more and moreI mess with it). When I bought it my buddy told me the onlythings done to it were aCAI, accufab throttle body, headers, MSD ignition andbassaniexhaust. Wellsince then I've discovered that one of the previous owners had put a smaller pulleyon the supercharger and had put a different MAFsensor on it (the MAF they put on it was for a '96 cobra with 30 lbs injectors with a s/c).It worked alright for the first 3 weeksI had it then it then it started misfiring. The shop my buddy had taken it to to get new sparkplugs gapped them wrong and they were actually hitting the heads of the pistons and several of them fusedcausing the misfires. This caused a rod to spin off the crank. Yeah so a set of plugs and a new engine later itwasrunning lean.I took it over to a performance shop the local saleen dealer recomended to have them take a look at it. They found that it was running lean after about 3000 rpms or anytime it went into boost (it would drop to about 3 psi). They thought it might be the fuel pump, so I replaced that, which doubled the fuel pressure (from 3psi to 6...) but still lean. So next they thought it might be a vacuum leak, which sure enought the crappy plastic inlet tube between the throttle body and s/c had a crack. So after replacing that with a nifty little kit I ordered from saleen that replaced it with the series IV s/c's metal intake (not really a direct replacement like they claimed lol), they put it back on the dyno and it ran better but still above about 3800 rpm it would go crazy. After that they noticed that the MAF was for a '96 (which blows my mind still) they replaced it withthe correct one, and still the same problem. So now there going nuts taking apart the fuel sytem and replacing all the little stuff like fuel filters, lines, etc. It's not an electrical problem it has a brand new battery and the alternater is running fine. So long story short, the shop doesn't think this is itbut could the problem be the injectors are too small (there the stock 30 lb injectors) or do you think those would work with it pushing about 8-9 lbs of boost? Any suggestions would be great because I'm trying to get this thing fixed before I deploy so I can drive it home to leave with my folks.
