2007 Roush Blackjack owners were lead to believe they were paying for exclusivity with their 60k > To own one of only 100 Roush Blackjacks made. But wait! Roush turned around in 2008 and made 100 MORE Blackjacks. This has angered the 2007 owners enough to file a suit against Ford.
12 million in damages...
Your thoughts?

I think since the transaction was between the owner and Ford (not Roush) that the owners sued Ford. To my knowledge, both Ford and Roush made the 'only 100 made' claim so they share in the culpability. To me, this hinges on whether or not claims of 'only sold one year, or only for 2007' where made....
Like Ford needs another kick in the pants.

If you actually READ the article BOTH are being named in the lawsuit.
and I'd have to say I agree.... If claims were made by both companies to the end-user and Ford did not have any disclaimers about accuracy of information provided then they unfortunately sink with the Roush ship.
However, if Ford was smart and put a disclaimer like "Ford assumes no responsibility or liability for misinformation provided to it by Roush or its indirect affiliates" blah blah blahthen they are technically safe since it's the buyers responsibility to READ what they are agreeing to before signing anything. At which point Ford could just say " Hey we just passed along what Roush was telling us."

These folks are IDIOTS. (And yes, I would say that to someones face.) Roush only said 100 2007 Black Jacks would be made- never anything about 2008. If they ONLY bought the car due to how rare it was, they should have gotten a Roush V6 of that year- far less were made.
If only 100 are made, how are "MORE THAN 100" people suing? If you don't own one, you shouldn't be able to sue....right????

Only in America.
100 cars that stickered at $59,000.
100 X $59,000 = $5,900,000
Yet they're suing for $12 million in "damages". meaning that they're saying that Ford/Roush screwed them out of $12 million in value.
Apparently these rocket scientists believed that they were buying $180,000 cars for their $59,000.

This lawsuit will be summarily thrown out very quickly. Unless Ford/Roush represented that the 2007 run of Black Jacks would be the only 100 ever made, there's no claim here. And I'm guessing Ford/Roush's legal departments would never have let such a representation be made. Also, if there is ANY change at all from the 2007 to 2008 models (whether in the drivetrain or merely aesthetic), that fact itself would seriously undermine the owners' (already tenous) claims. Indeed, that the 2008 models are "2008 Black Jacks" instead of "2007 Black Jacks" could itself suffice.
Btw, I recall Shelby GT500 owners pondering similar lawsuits, when Ford upped the production run from 6,000 to 7,500 to 9,000+ and then announced they'd make GT500s for 2008 and possibly 2009 as well. Those claims went nowhere fast.

Interesting info in this thread.
Personally i would never INVEST money in a car..it's a depreciating asset. Buy what you want to buy because you want it, not because you think it will "earn money" go buy a bond, stock, or a house if you're looking to EARN money on your investment.

That is a good point about changes being made between the 07 BJ and the 08 BJ. Many interior styling cues, exterior changes make them distinguishable by year as well.
I also laughed at the math $180K cars hahahaha.
Also, if it floats... who does the money go to? Original buyer? Some of them have been sold two or three times already.
