Question for others with JDM 550 upgrade

SC1039,
If you got the Kit from JDM before you go crazy trying things I suggest that you contact Jim Jr and explain the situation to him. Jim is a very helpful person. If they sent you the tune ask them to double check the trottle body parameters (within the tune file), just to see if there was a glitch with the software or the tune file itself. Once fixed he can e-mail it back to you, then you can go ahead and upload it into your SCT handhanlde and upload it again into your OBD, then start the engine again and see what happens.
Regardless that is not a good thing, since your car will be starting at high RPMs basically cold and without a great deal of lubrication and this would cause inadecuate friction and stress to the walls of the cilinder(s) and other components where lubrication is critical.
Hope this helps.

So, I tried the throttle reset tip. It looked promising at first, but I started it again today and still had the problem. I then spoke to JDM (thanks Joe and Jim Jr). Turns out, it might be my throttle body. I had installed a BBK throttle body last summer. JDM says they've gotten tons of calls from people with BBK throttle bodies that dont seem to work with their upgrade kits. I've put the stock TB back on and will check it again tomorrow.
On a far worse note, this morning when I started the car to check for this problem, the car jumped up to 5k rpm. I thought I had the car out of gear, so I let the clutch out........and launched right into my garage door. Dented the hood, and scratched the front bumper up
JDM kit - $2k +
New garage door - few hundred
New Saleen SC aluminum hood- $1600
New paint - $1k
This project is getting expensive.....

I dont know yet. I'm already on my second aluminum hood (thats another story). The hood is pretty banged up right around the edge where it turns down toward the grill, so maybe it will be strong enough there to be shaped back into place.
