Default Question for others with JDM 550 upgrade

About a week ago I installed the JDM 550 kit on my SC. Overall, its a great setup. One concern I do have, and this is my question.

When I first start the car now, it revs to about 4k RPM for 3-5 seconds then settles down to a normal idle. Having it rev that high on startup is a little scary. Does anyone else have this happen? Is it normal for this setup?

Thanks

I have to check mine out. Doe not sound familiar to me. Also, your kit sounds just like the stage II kit, not the 550 kit unless it is just a tune that makes the difference. I have the JDM stage II installed on mine. All of the components are the same as what you mentioned. Also the kit required me to replace my plugs wth that setup, did you replace them? I have no idea if it matters, but it was part of the kit.

Yea, I have the stage 2. I thought that was the 550 kit. According to JDM it should be making about 560 FWHP. Yes, new plugs were part of the package.

Yeah, on their website, it says 450 rwhp. I figure 15% loss which should be about 517 FWHP. There isa different kit for 550. Either way, this kit is amazing! I will start my car in a little while, but I do not think that is happening. It sounds like it iwould be easy to notice.

Yea, I've watched it the past couple of startups. I even try taping on the accelerator a couple of times while its rev'd high to get it to come back down, but it doesnt help.

Also, it doesn't do it on every startup, just the first startup of the day.

Did you do a throttle reset? Not sure if would help, but I know I did it after I installed my tune.

No, I didn't. Do you have a link to a procedure or could you explain it?

I am sure it is probably not difficult to find on this forum. As I reall it, turn the key to the "on" position" (do not start the car). Once the lights on the dash go out (a couple will remain on) press the gas pedal to the floor as far as it goes, and then slowly let it back up. You will hear something happen after that (a reset of some kind). After that, nect time you start it, drive it like you stole it so the computer does not learn to drive like a @#$%^. Try that to see if it helps.
