Default New MAF Is it Alright?

My new 90mm MAF is coming into today and I was wondering, if I can finally put together my RIPP kit from Chicane and put it on my s/c. I know I will need a tune because the air intake will be different but I was wondering how long I could drive it before gettnig a tune, if any time at all. I don't want to break anything I just want to get everything thrown on there and was wondering how much time I had to drive it before I would need a tune.

Thanks so much.
I am going to try and put it on today unless advised otherwise, so any reply asap would help!

Thanks again!

I'd probably wait just to be safe. I don't have an exact answer of how much it might hurt....but your car will be taking in more air and your engine won't know what to do with it.

I have a new MAF sitting in my garage and although it's a bolt-on replacement...i'm going to wait until I do the rest of the upgrades first.

I was also going to upgrade my fuel injectors myself and then take it to my tech to get it tuned and he told me that he would need to put together a tune in order to drive it to his shop with the new injectors. That's how sensitive it is to something like that.

Maybe someone else will chime in and say it's ok....but I personally would wait until the last possible second before the tune.

I wouldn't risk it. Wait untill you have it tuned to install it. Are you also having the 66mm pulley put on?

Yes, wait for the tune! If you got a Cobra 90mm, it is calibrated for 39lb inj. Your Saleen S/C should have 30lbrs. Also, if you plan on getting a hand held instead of a chip (talking tuning), your tuner should be able to make/load a base tune to get you to the shop.

I have the Chicane RIPP and the LFP 90mm MAF. Would you recommend 42lb injectors?

I'm going to be switching to 42's when I do more upgrades. The 42's won't give you more power...they'll just let you add more power when you reach the point where your engine is running out of fuel.

I was able to add the 66mm pulley and focus fuel pump without upgrading. Now if the shop says that you're running out of fuel then I would upgrade. OR...if you're planning on adding more stuff in the future...you could always go and do it now.

If you're not going to do future upgrades to your car....then you probably don't need it.
