Cold air intake question

Cold air intake question
I added a APEXI cone filter to some 3.5" bent aluminum for a custom air intake on my '08 427R since Roush wants $400+ for his kit. My question is will this make the car run lean or will it self adjust for the extra air? I didn't change any of the sensors locations, if that matters. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Please take this with a grain of salt, but you drive a $45k Mustang. A PROPER $400 CAI made by the manufacturer of your car for your car seems affordable.

Welcome to the site, next time maybe you can ask before doing something like this......
Sounds like the RICE MOD to me-homemade cai tube and add 1 cone filter to dangle off the end and show it off on the cruise nights.
Seriously, WHY would you do that to a 427R? Not to mention not even considering a better tune?
I believe that the general consensus would be that yes you will mess up a perfectly good Rousch by doing what you did without getting any of the right info first just to save a few bucks.
good luck,
mike

My experience with the 'Spanish Oak' (S197 computer) is that if it senses more air, it will dump to much fuel and you will run rich and have less power. On the 05+ Mustangs, for best results, you need to retune with any change to airflows both coming and going.

Ah, I have learned something. I would have called that a fender mount set up/adaptor for a cold air intake.
And right in the ad, it says it has a NEW TUNE (so one would assume you would have to retune after such a change).

My 427R defindently didn't come with a CAI. I put this "homemade" kit on versus the Roush kit wasn't so much to save money, but when I researched cone filter test. The APEXI filter was by far the best one available for both performance and dirt containment. Thanks for all your help and responses I live and learn.
