I'd take the GT500 in a heartbeat and spend about $1500 on it, and never look back.

Personally I share your sentiment and I'd be terrified to own a lizstick red. I would freak out with every rock chip and scratch. With a GT500 you can breathe easier knowing that it's no big deal.

Then again.....you'd lose all that attention you get from having your car. It's kinda cool to pull into a car show and own everyone's attention.

I sway back and forth but ultimately I'd probably keep your car despite all that fear of rock chips. It's just too cool and you see GT500's all over the place. They look commonplace. I turn my head to see terminator cobras. GT500's barely register to me.

Now if it was a GT500 with the '10 bodystyle, however.....all bets would be off.

Wow, I guess it is pretty much "Hands Down" to keep the Saleen! I was just thinking about it as I know the offer is there for me. Let's not forget I was actually selling my Saleen, and if I were to sell right this second, I think the GT500 would get more. However, I know the 500 is going to depreciate from this point forward at a much faster rate.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I said to do the trade.

If either is a car you're going to keep, I'd obviously say keep the Saleen.

If you're still looking to get rid of the Saleen, I think trading into the GT500 and selling that car is the best way to get the most cash.

Unless you plan on pushing over 700rwhp, stick with your saleen...it will be worth way more one day, just not now...who cares about resale anyway, did you really buy a car for that reason? lame if so

I did not buy it to sell it at all. However, after owning it, I now know how rare this paint is, and how hard ot get any paint problem fixed would be if something were to happen to it. I definitely do not drive it as much as I would like due to that. The Saleen looks 10x better to me as the 500 does not really look any different than a regualr mustang unless you know what to look for. If I were to continue to want to sell, I think the trade might be a good move to sell now, however, I think if I had the 500, I would not be so cautious when driving it, and may want to keep it. Just thinking out loud still. Thanks for all of the input.

I have the same car 06 saleen sc jdm II, with nav, subs, h-pipe, livewire, except mines black. If someone offered me a trade for a 07-08 gt500 with same miles or less I would seriously consider it.

But would you do it? I am seriously considering it too, but seems like a tough one. Not sure how many miles you have, but I have to count the color as something also. At least as far as hopefully holding value due to the rarity of it if Saleen stops making cars. I know our cars will be worth more in the longrun.

I actually have almost the exact same mileage 9800. Its hard to say what saleens will be worth in the long run but I wouldnt go as far as to say they will be worth more than shelbys. At least right now. who knows what they will be worth. My car's MSRP was like $56k. It would be difficult to get $32k 3 years later and only 10k miles. It isnt a good market right now but still. Saleens are rarer but that doesnt necessarily mean they will be worth more. Its really hard to say. for your situation I would at least go take a look at the car. What color is it?

If I were in a situation where someone offered me an 08 Shelby black with less that 10k miles and I could take out my stereo I think I would do it. Mines only an SC. If I had an extreme on the other hand I wouldnt.
