I see Saleen SC's much cheaper right now though. I think if it is a value thing, the GT500 is worth more hands down. Considering I may not have it longer than a couple of years is what makes me think the trade makes sense financially. If the car was going to siti in the garage for years, then I think mine would be better to have.

True BUT what we are working with is not the standard SC model. He has the 17K paint option which to me would mean to keep th car. If it was a standard SC than I would probably do the GT500 hands down.

Well it looks as though the guy I was considering has sold his. I really was not sure I wanted his as it was lowered, but now it is out of the question. I have reached out to Legion as he said he would get me one in a minute for my car, but he is very hard to get a hold of. I will wait to see where it goes. I am going to try to trade up for an 08 though.

Well, I finally spoke to Legion, and he is going to locate me a GT500 for an even swap. I will keep you all posted.

I just sold my 06 SC saleen, with 475hp upgrade, and still own my completely stock 07 GT500. The Shelby pulled tremedously harder than the saleen, despite its weight, and lousy 3.31 gears. Saleens are not as fast as advertised. And for about 4000.00, the shelby will look awesome, outperform in a straight line, and handle just fine in the twisties, and in my opinion will be worth more money in the future than the saleen. Shelby has more respect than Saleen, with what has happened to the company Saleen in the past few years, and especially lately. I enjoy driving the shelby much more than the saleen, and get the "thumbs up" in my Shelby as often, believe it or not, than I did in my saleen. The platform from the start is far superior. 5.4 vs 4.6. 4 valve vs 3 valve. both supercharged. forged internals vs "kaboom" in the saleen. Yes the saleen is a much prettier car, but with 20" shelby razors, or alcoas, springs, nice exhaust, and a jlt kit, you have 625 reliable hp, and to me the car will look awesome. A few inexpensive billet pieces in the interior, and a dash kit, and the interior looks about as nice. No warranties on saleens, and did you notice, Steve Saleen was not at the introduction of the 2010 mustang. Strange huh? Dont get me wrong, I have had 2 saleens, and did love them, but just think my shelby is a much better car. As far as depreciation, the saleens are worth so little right now, and it is only going to get worse in my opinion. The shelbys will hold there value better I think, and when the econony gets better their values will hold, same as the 03-04 cobra values have been pretty good, where as the saleen values are terrible. No disrespect to the saleen guys intended. I say go for it!
If you had the JDM stage II kit, your opinion would be different...I would put money on that

Not saying your opinion is right or wrong, just saying 1.5k in your car would change your entire perspective on these cars
