Default Supercharger or Turbo? for 01 S281

I want to do something this summer. Right now its a 2001 non-anything S281. Which one will give me best performance for the buck? I am very new to all this stuff....as a matter of fact I just got the Saleen about 2 weeks ago. Its alot of fun now...I can only imagine if I put a system in.

Also, please let me know specific details like brand, cost (estimate) and power results. I have called a few shope locally and all I get is a promise to get a call back but after a few days...nothing.

Any advise would be welcome.
Thanks

For 01 I like the whipple blowers. Reliable and you get good power. You can easily get 400RWHP and if you desire more than just crank up the boost and change the bottom end out.

As S281 E pointed out, the Whipple Supercharger is aswesome. The only problem is lower intake manifolds are limited. You are pretty much stuck with the Saleen lower (restrictive) manifold. I believe, with some work, you can use a Torque Tech lower intake with the Whipple. At that point, you might want to consider using their standard kit with the Eaton M112 as it will beplenty for the stock 2v engine. The Kenne Bell supercharger is also awesome, but pricey. It would be cool if Techo made some runners for their new blower to fit the 2v...

Turbocharging is cool, so long as you can get it past a smog station. It just depends on where you live. I listed a link for a turbo kit that I have been drooling over, but not legal in good ol' CA.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info. I've only looked at the classifieds here and Ebay for supers and turbos but not a whole lot to choose from. Now I know that Whipple is a good brand, it will give me a starting point.

I just checked Whipple and KenneBell website. Does anyone know which one is more of a self-installer?
Is it really worth it for a 2v motor?

Turbo setup. [/thread]

A turbo kit will be a little more involved up front, but it'll give you a lot of room to grow.

There are quite a few companies out there making decent kits.
