I was looking at american muscle.com and I noticed that they sell a bearing kit? I have close to 3800 miles on my 04 saleen sc281. Should I get the bearing kit or install them as is. What gear oil is recommended?

Also I have my mods purchased and ready to take them to a shop to install...how much you think this list will run me?

if your gears are ford racing parts, not motive you shouldnt need any thing but a couple of shims and crush collar. with only 4800 on the clock eveything should be good. install price will vary but 300 should cover it easy for the gears, cai is a 20 min job so is the tb, inj, and mas, now the fuel pump and the intercooler will take some time, the pulley should be easy, also are you upgrading the heat exchanger? because i know on the on the 05 and op you need to pull the front fasia off! and thats no picknick. labor only in any case i woulnt think would be more than a 1000 dollars if you had to pull the fasia off to, and im sure were bringing it to a shop that does alot of mustang work.

My 3.73 gears are ford racing according to the box...shims and crush collar? No I am not upgrading the heat exchanger. This is an 04 Saleen SC281. I am taking it to PAS in Richmond, Va.

On the 99-04's you can jack up the car and drop out the heat exchanger from below.

Glad to hear you're taking it to PAS. They're awesome.

As mentioned before....the MAF, TB, and CAI won't take too long. Neither will the pulley. The chicane intercooler takes about an 8 hour install. Fuel injectors are pretty much no labor since you already have to take off the fuel rails to install the intercooler.

You'll need a wideband 02 in place in order to monitor the exhaust and check the air/fuel ratio.....so you can add that to the list (it was like $75 for them to do it for me). You'll also need a smaller belt for the smaller pulley. Last time I talked to PAS I think they use a 112.5 belt on it. Figure about $30 or so for that.

Tuning, dyno, and data logging everything the first time will take awhile. Plan on a couple of hours for that.

My initial mods were the following:

Chicane Pulley
SVT Pump
3.73 gears
Wideband 02
Xcal 2 Tuner

Install, parts, and tuning for mine ran a little over $2k. Figure ~ $550 or so for intercooler install.

My rough slightly educated guess for yours since you already have most of the parts except the tuner, belt, and wideband O2: $2,904

You'll love what those changes will do to your car. Post up when you get it done! Can't wait to see the numbers.

*EDIT- One more recommendation: get colder spark plugs.

Gears are normally $600-$650 for gears and install. Since you already have the parts it should be half of that. The CAI, injectors, TB, MAS, and pulley I would try to do on my own. Very easy even for a noob and you can save some money toward the next mod.

Hey evil is there a after market heat exchanger that I can put into my 02'? Thats the last of my cooling that I have to do.
