Default Techco ported S/C, CAI & tune...AWESOME!

As the tittle suggests, Techco just finished porting the s/c on my 2006 Saleen as well as installing their CAI kit and re-tuning it to their specs. The car was previously tuned by a highly respected local tuner and a canned tune prior to that...giving me great results. My previous #'s were 438rwhp & 404rwtq. on a car with an AUTOMATIC trans.(this is my d/d). At the suggestion of Carlos Duran of Techco, we replaced my C&L CAI and GT500 t.b. (the hood wouldn't close due to the GT500 t.b. spacer protruding the inlet tube too far forward) with Techco's CAI and the STOCK t.b. producing 490rwhp & 480rwtq after their new tune! Equally impressive was Techco's ability to reprogram the shifting points of my trans. to completely eliminate all lag in acceleration & downshifting... something the other tunes could not do. Needless to say, I was completely blown away at what they were able to achieve and if any of you are considering these upgrades, you owe to yourself to give Carlos or Ned at Techco a call. My experience was fantastic!!!!!

gGlad to hear your transaction went well. I on the other hand was not so fortunate. Had them port my blower and received a 0 increase in Torque or Horsepower.

Your vehicle is monster and porting would only of been noticed without those turbos.

WHAT!! now im sure i speak for everyone when i say lets hear that story, i was considering this mod an then held off to sell my E and start my gt500 project, which is on hold, so ive been toying with the idea. ive spoken with jdm and this mod was good for 30hp! how did you get 0? not to mention the new mod of the week a gt500 tb and minor porting of the lid which jdm has had great results with. jim sr has a video showing almost 50hp gain with a back to back test, that was pretty impressive, so give us the dirt! and dont be shy!!! i would think techco had the ability to produce simular gains as jdm, i mean sh t there not building the freekin space shuttle how hard could it be? not to mention 1,100 smackers id be f....n furious.

You know I was thinking and the whole point of porting is that it makes the air flow path smoother so when it's moving across a pressure differential it doesn't cause turbulence.

With turobs and a a low PSI Saleen supercharger, you're not really moving things across a big pressure differential and the air is pressurized to boot therefore it has more mass per volume and is less prone to turbulence.

So your car shouldn't have benefited from porting in the first place.

Tip of the Month, October: Do not buy the $730 Roush Exhaust which a Mangnaflow rep says costs to $117 make (polished, all ss), buy the $170 Roush Exhaust Tips estimated to cost $46 to make and weld them to another company's muffler. This also lets you choose how your car sounds.

I'm surprised you weren't told before hand that you were wasting $$$.

thats sort of what i was getting at, but sometimes you try things for the first time just to see if there are gains to be had!! well if thats the case here he certainly got his answer.

Legion5, yes I also considered that the blower might be a restriction, but fact is that Boost in and of itself is a measure of restriction. Positive manifold pressure is simply air that can't get into the engine fast enough, and therefore, backs up in the intake tract. Every power adder that makes boost faces this restriction. By having the supercharger in place, we simply move that "buildup" of pressure to the intake side of the blower. The blower will then continue to do it's job, just moving air, as it would normally do. It shouldn't be thought of as a "block" in the system, because it's not a stagnant, non-moving piece. It is spinning at a very high RPM, and moving massive amounts of air. Therefor, it's not a restriction.

Before making this decision I contacted Carlos and explained IN FULL DETAIL what I was trying to do and the mods already on the car. Hence why I paid to remove the blower and have it shipped to Techo. I was told 35-40RWHP but I was expecting 10-15RWHP realistically, but with hopes at higher boost I would yield the gains Carlos promised. Lets get something cleared up. Carlos is a great guy and has contacted me regarding a credit. Once I recive the credit I will post on the forum. I would have preferred not to wait 4 months, but I have asked Carlos for a favor with the credit. We will see if he comes through. Hopefully he will do right by this.
