I had a 97 Cobra, pretty much identical to the 96. Your car may be able to get to 500hp at the flywheel supercharged and he would be around 470. The difference will be the powerbands.

I know many a guy that blew their Cobra motor at that power level. Make sure you get it well tuned and be ready for the tranny to give up on you. I went through too many T-45's and finally switched to a TKO. That was with 305 n/a rwhp but I did drag and road race the car.

I think a drag race between you two would be very close after the mods. Road course race he should beat you easy assuming everything else is stock.

As others had said, an S281 (non-supercharged) was a stock Ford drivetrain with a few minor tweaks.
