Not sure which Saleen he has, but assuming it is an SC and not an Extreme... comes with an iron block, cant take around 400 rwhp safely after which a forged short block will be needed. Generally they came with stock 5-speeds, some with automatics with a 6speed as an option.

You should review the past forums on building horse power with these cars as their is a ton of great info on this site.

285 hp @ 5100 and 315 lb-ft tq @ 4100. try this link. It is for an older Saleen, but it is basically the same. I think the hp might have been bumped to 290 by 2004, but not positive.

4.6L 290hp @ 5100rpm, 330 ft# tq @ 4100 rpm, SOHC X code, 9.4:1 compression, stock 5spd manual tranny.

Optional were the 4spd AOD, and the 6 spd manual tranny.

The only thing Saleen changed on the S281 in 04 was the body kit and suspension, exhaust and tune.

Real information? Your questions were answered above. What real information do you seek?
The car is basically a GT with a tune, exhaust, pulleys and intake. The engine is an iron block 4,605 cc 4.6 liter with 91.4 mm bore, 91.4 mm stroke, 9.4 compression ratio, overhead cam and two valves per cylinder. Deck heights for all 4.6 blocks are 227 mm. Connecting rod length is 150.7 mm. The pistons are hypereutectic, or basically an aluminium mix. Without internals, much more than 400rwhp is looking for trouble, although cars have been known to put down 450rwhp for a time. The transmission is nothing more than the run of the mill TR3650. Does that cover everything ya need?
