Video's not the best but thought you all might enjoy. Done last Friday at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) by Viper (Virginia Institute for Performance Engineering & Research). Guy's name is Victor Seaber. Knows what he's doing if anybody in the area needs help.
I bought the car last November. Had what we believe to be a detonation problem after I filled it with what was "SUPPOSED" to be 93 octane. After 1 hr. of driving the car started missing one cylinder. The problem ended up being #1 spark plug broken off & a hole in #1 exhaust valve. Probably could have just fixed the valve but decided to go ahead and bore 10thousands over(because of a very fine scratch in #1 cylinder that we weren't sure a polish would eliminate) and replaced all of the pistons & rings (same Mahles Blacks originally installed), main bearings, & polished the crank (didn't need but might as well while we had it apart). Took 5 months to get the block back. Apparently I was low on the list, much to my dismay, but she's back and now I've got to decide if I really want to sell. Need to sell, but don't want to. Sure none of you have ever been in this position right? LOL! Check out the link below. It's the article written after Brian had the original mods done. http://www.mustang50magazine.com/fea...281/index.html
MC....thanks for posting the info. That car has a very interesting history. It always reminded me of Birdieman's Extreme when I would look through that article in 5.0.
The numbers sound pretty solid. I most of the same mods, minus cams, and I am at 440 rwhp and 484 rwtq.
What I don't understand in the write-uo is that they mentioned in the article that Lamotta tore the 281 down and re-did crank, pistons and rods to "upgrade" what was already there. But, the 2002 Extremes were already fitted with forged Mahle pistons, forged H-beam rods, etc.... Am I misinterpreting the write-up....or did they really replace all the original forged internals to replace them with "beefier" stuff...only to take the car up to 500 rwhp and torque (which the original gear could have easily handled)?
Hopefully you don't have to sell....that would be a nice one to have in the garage for a while
i see your in NC, but its VIR, did you come up here to get this dyno? I am in the market for a tune in a few months when i add the forged and charger, so wondering how far this would be for me, where is that company located? and how much ws everything?
