New Roush Lineup: What Would You Like?
New Roush Lineup: What would you like to see?
Ive been wondering why Roush doesnt reconfigure the lineup in 2011.
Ive been thinking of something like the following.
Stage 1 - Body Kit
Stage 2 - Body Kit and Supension
427R - Body Kit, Suspension, CAI + Tune + Axle-Back (427-440 bhp)
P51- Body Kit, Suspension, Supercharger (510-540 bhp)
600RH - Suspension, Built Engine, Supercharger (600+ bhp)
Stage III - The whole nine yards (600+ bhp)
Would making a 427R a normally aspirated car and the P51 a stock short-block car alienate the current owners?
Given the current base he has to work with it just seems to fit better with the traditional names to me.

For new Roush cars (2010):There is Stage 1, II, III, 427R, and the 540RH
Note:Well they only made 51 of the P51 Roush Mustangs.
To be honest, I think the current line-up is okay as is. Now, Jack always throws in different Limited Special edition mustangs which should be souped up
What i would like to see is Jack Roush do a BOSS 302 Roush Mustang!
edit: might be mistaken, so sorry if I am wrong (above)

All will have the exhaust.
2011 Stage 1 and 2 cars are listed at 412hp, 390 tq.
The 427 will still be a SC car according to the press release a few months back.
I've heard no talk of continuing the P51 or RH, but I'm sure Roush will feature something with built motors.
I'd also bet we don't see the supercharged 5.0L released to the public until mid to late Summer.
Rumors floated around about Roush kicking out anther V6 - which is something that hasn't really happend (well) since 2004.

I heard the 427R will be a Supercharged car but calling a 500+ bhp 302 ci car a 427R doesnt make a lot of sense to me.
Considering Whipple is making 600 bhp on only 7 psi I dont really see how he could get it much under 510 bhp even with only 4 psi. Remember this engine is going to move a lot of air at that level.
It just seemed like...
427-450 bhp bolt-ons.
510-540 bhp Blower Only
600+ bhp Built Engine w/ Blower
...makes the most sense. So then it comes down to what you call them.
Just seemed like 427-429R, P51 and 600RH/Stage 3 would fit in well with the companies modern history.

The 2010 427R had over 435... so that didn't match up either. It's more of the name than the number and it's history as a name... like the new Dodge Hemi - which really isn't a Hemi motor.
I'm really pushing to get a V6 done again by Roush. I think the market is there for it, and having a 400 hp turn key sixer with all the suspension/brake goodies to match will make a lot of V8 lovers take notice (and maybe pull some of the turner crowd over to the right side of the fence as well).

Strange, I thought the Hemi's were Hemi's... I thought the overall head design was put into the new cylinder head design, but I ain't no MOPAR expert.
Whether they build 'em or not, why not have Roush build you a a 6 banger? Don't they do custom stuff like that?

Technically (by some peoples definitions) a Hemi has to have a true hemi chamber (no quench pads) and opposed valves.
The 353 doesnt have perfectly Hemispherical Chambers (Neither does a Boss 429 as it has quench pads) and the valves are not quite truly opposed.
Im not a purest in Chamber Shape and the valves are closer to being opposed than any non-hemi canted valve pushrod engine I can come up with. So if they want to call it that Im not going to complain. True Hemis leave something to be desired in chamber efficiency when run on gasoline anyway. Much better for Alky or Nitro.
PS Many 354/392 fans claimed the 426 wasnt a true hemi either because of the valve angles.
