Default Help Car wont go pass 2000 RPMS in 6th gear

Hello everyone,
I am hoping someone might be able to lead me in the right direction. So I have a 2004 SVT Mustang Cobra. Yesterday I was driving and the traffic was kind of bad. While sitting in traffic I heard something and thought something might have fallen out from the engine. I was in neutral when I heard the noise. So as soon as traffic started moving I shifted into 1st no problem and nothing was in the road.. I then realize that the A.C. is not blowing cool air, and then right after the car started running hot. So I put it on heat to take the hot air out from the engine and it was no longer running hot. Drove the car for another forty-five minutes and then tried the AC and it was fine. Car was bad in perfect condition. Finally got home and parked the car. Well, today I get in to come to work and it is acting funny. I go through all the gears and when I get to sixth gear it wont go pass 2000 rpms. It feels like its thinking about it and the turbo doesn't want to kick in, or accelerate fast or anything. Could it be that sixth gear is shot? What might be wrong? Any information would be great.. Thanks

Angela

I think we might need more information to help you out. Let's start with a few basic questions:

Is the car modified? it sounds lie it might be as the Cobra came stock with a supercharger not a turbo.

If it has been modifed, what has been done to the car?

So, the car ran hot after the noise and while the AC was blowing hot? So you continued to drive it for 45 minutes after this? Have you checked the water (engine and sc-blower) and oil levels since?

What does "Car was bad in perfect condition" mean exactly?

Does the car go over 6000 rpm's in any gear?

Personally, I wouldn't be driving it until I knew exactly what was wrong as you may cause more damage and a costly repair bill.

I don't believe your issue is the transmission, maybe you over-heated, blew a hose or something else cooling system related. Need a bit more info to be sure.
