Default New 5.0 vs used GT500 vs Roush vs Saleen etc etc

Found the right place to post this I think.. didn't realize we had this specialty forum here..

Since resale of a modified mustang is not good, I am considering selling my stock -06 GT and buy a used GT500, Roush mustang (stage 2 and 3, 427R), Saleen mustang or even a new 5.0. But it is hard to compare all these alternatives, and am looking for some input from you guys. Appearance is easy to compare, and power is somewhat easy to compare, however handling and expected future resale values are hard to compare. Any takes on what you consider the best option out there when it comes to the above mentioned packages?

How does the new 5.0 handling compare to the 07 to 09 GT500 handling?
What is the difference between the handling of the 07-09 GT500 vs latest GT500 vs latest 5.0 GT? Is there a website that lists the stock features of these cars?

Found a -05 450hp Stage 2 Roush Mustang that has been converted to a stage 3. Asking price is $26000! To me this seems like a good price for a great vehicle.. any opinions?

Is the "upgraded" Roush a silver one? If so, it started as a Stage 1, and the upgrades don't make it a Stage 3.

Stock 5.0L won't handle as well as the GT500 just due to suspension differences.

Why not get the Roush or Saleen version of the 2011? You get the power of the new motor and the looks/performance of the upgraded cars.

Nope it is not a silver, must be a different one.. However before I pull the trigger on this one, I will do my homework..

As you say, I should probably wait and see what they will be doing to the new 5.0 model before I make my move, but the cost may be an issue as I do not want to go much above 35k for my next ride. Maybe I will just have to wait a yr or two and see where we are at.

The -11 GT500 has 540 hp I hear, but is its engine based on the Coyote 5.0?

I think the stock 5.0 actually handles as good as, or better than the 07/08 GT500 due to weight and weight balance differences. I thought the GT500's, at least some year of them, had their engine based on the Ford GT.

07-10 vs 11 GT500 Handling = 11 GT500 is better. What's the difference? Idk, but I remember reading that the new 2011 GT500 dropped some weight, gained some horsepower, steering response and suspension improvements.

07-10 GT500 vs new 5.0 GT Handling = I'm pretty sure the 5.0 GT would take it. What's the difference? ...??

11 GT500 vs new 5.0 GT Handling = probably the 11 GT500. What's the difference? ...???

You can always search google.com for "(insert car here) specs"

The 2011 GT500 changed from a cast iron block 5.4L to an aluminum block much like what was used in the Ford GT and more recently the 2010 Mustang Cobra Jet (which made 1000rwhp).

I don't know for sure, but don't the '11 GT500s use an electronic power assist steering vs the GTs that uses a fluid assist system?

I'm also not positive if the older GT500s also had the electronic power assist steering.

Great guys thanks! I conclude that I do not want to buy the 07-09 GT500. The new 5.0 is the favorite after doing some more research. The 11 GT500 is based on the Ford GT engine from what I can gather, and that it is alu block instead of cast iron. It also has electronic assist steering + some suspension upgrades. BUT way to spendy for me yet. Will probably wait a few years until the Roush, Saleen, Steeda models that are based on the 5.0 are available used. My black stock -06GT will do for now. OR maybe I should immediately buy a used tricked out Roush, Saleen, Steeda based on the 05-09 models.... AAAAHH too many choices!!!
