4.10 gears?
Thinking about swapping out the 3.73s with a set of 4.10's. Now i know that the 4.10's are going to make for more low end grunt. What are some other advantages and what do they gears actually do. (sorry, still trying learning mechanical stuff)
Thanks!
Thanks!

I was also thinking about getting 4.10's.
I drove a friends 95' z28 with 4.10's and at around 90mph it sounded like the tranny was going to blow up.It hauls *** in the 0-100mph range though.
My question is do all 4.10 gears not like going over 100mph or is his tranny just shot?

^^Agree. I have 4.10 and was also thinking about something else. I can tell you that yeah it will haul *** but first gear is pretty much useless. Without 6 speed say goodbye to your gas mileage if you use as a dd. 65 mph on highway you will be over 2,000 rpm

I swapped out my 3:73s for 4:10s and am running just a bit more power than you now...definitely made the car more fun, especially on the highway
The main criticism you will hear from people is that 4:10s will kill your traction...They are incorrect, you will receive almost identical traction issues you are currently experiencing with the 3:73s...most people that tell you otherwise have never experienced this swap and are making assumptions...
If you are planning on a built motor down the road then I would stick with the 3:73s

your gears wouldn't work that's not an 8.8 gear the v6 has the 7.5 rear.. back to op's question..4.10's are fun in the 3v's and really only make a 500rpm difference at cruising. at 80mph you're right at 3k rpms instead of 2500. I'd do them they make an extremely noticeable difference.

I installed 4.10s about two months ago. Aside from the low end grunt that you mentioned, I've seen a few improvements in other areas. On the highway, I feel like I have another passing gear. I don't have to shift down to pass cars when I'm just out cruising. In town, the car is much more user friendly. Not only are launches easier, but just taking off in a parking lot is better.
I don't have the HP you do, but I hope this helps.
