Default Time to put together a new Mustang!

I just put my '08 Mustang up for sale and I'm going to buy a 2014 GT and build a Roush supercharged automatic at 575 HP/505 FT.LB. with big brakes. I drove an automatic the other day and it was alright. I promise I won't call it a Roush.... Lil' Roush! Smile! Any suggestions about the build?

My wife & I will probably use it more since it is nicer to drive in traffic for old folks. We have been married for 49 years this week and together 52 years. Beat that elapsed time!

Here's a frame up build of the car I met her in... back in 1961! Here it is at a 50's Dance I threw at my school as a teacher and Director of Activities! I used to get about 20 parents to bring really nice 50's cars and park them on our school lawn for the dance!

No it's not a Ford, but my 1st car was a '49 Ford with two stromberg 97 carburetors and lowered in the front! Cool in 1958 if you were a poor kid!

Default Sold my "Roush Powered" serial numberless Mustang

We had a discussion on retaining values on Roush numbered cars vs Mustangs with substantial Roush modifications done & warranted by an authorized dealer. Of course no one agreed those with serial # cars were offended. (Smile)

Not to rehash the WW III bloodletting all over again, but just to add some "real world data" rather than opinion to the discussion of the choice of buying a "new serial numbered Roush" vs "buying a brand new Mustang GT & having an authorized Roush dealer modify it" to your taste!

Here's some REAL world data on my car. I bought a new '08 GT Mustang & had a Roush Supercharger package with the Cold Air Injection packaged added. I drove it from early '08 to 10/5/14 which was is approaching 8 years.

I just sold it for $25K which was what I paid for the new Mustang less tax. So essentially, I only lost the cost of the Roush supercharger & taxes when I sold it. Because I was not selling a serial # Roush, I could sell it for far less because I had far less invested in it. That opened it up to more buyers that could not afford a serial # Roush, Shelby, or Saleen, but could afford $25K for my car. I had lots of people who wanted to buy it at that price.

Everyone should buy what they want without anyone's criticism. I only add this info. to help people make up their minds on how to spend their money. Having to do it again, I would now buy a 2014 or 2015 GT & have a Roush Supercharger installed by an Authorized Dealer. It is not a serial numbered car, but the numbers work for me!

Techincally the Roush Mustang is refered to as a 'converstion' since it is done after the VIN related build by Ford. However, you have a great foundation to fight from.

With today's Mustangs, no cars are bought as 'stock' then sent to Roush. They all go right to Roush, then sold as Roush from the dealer. Way back when, Roush did have authorized build locations to help cover builds. My '98 was built by a Roush authorized builder. My '00 was built by them, then sent to the dealer where I bought it.

Let me know if there is anything I can help with from the stand point of what a 'real' Roush is vs a copy/clone/fake.
