Default Roush S3 2013 : Speed Limiter

Hi everyone

I tested my mus few days ago to see what it can do in speeding

The speed is limited at about 150m/h

It sucks I know

My Q is if I removed the speed limiter can the car stand speeds more then 180 ?

Like the engine and trans .......

If no what I have to upgrade ?

BTW the car is M trans
Thanks

What track are you on that you need speeds more than 150?

You won't find a lot of support for that type of thing on this forum. Leave the illegal street racing to the Hondas. That Roush is begging to tear up a track somewhere.

It is my understanding that the limit the speed to 149 mph because of the two piece drive shaft. If you go with a good quality 1 pc drive shaft and have tires rated for higher speeds you can have them change your speed limiter. I've heard the new GT500 is set at 200mph.

Just remember how dangerous it can be driving that fast. Just a small hill or a heavy wind can cause issues driving that fast. Let alone if an animal runs out in front of you.

Good luck.

I think they've just left in the default GT speed limiter. The engine and transmission should be able to handle speeds in excess of 150mph at the stock stage 3 power level. I think the supercharger is capable of creating more power than the engine can handle, so just be careful when changing to a smaller pulley... I think 600RWHP is considered safe for the engine. a one piece driveshaft is not necessarily better than a 2-piece for high speeds, you need to find out the critical RPM for the driveshaft and calculate the top speed it is capable of...
In the end, I don't think stage 3 roush has enough power to hit 200, maybe 180 on a long enough road.

I think the one-piece driveshaft is a great idea, but I'd upgrade the flywheel, clutch package, etc. Also, if you want to meet the magic 180 MPH, I think you should get lower rear gears (2.76, 3.23, etc.), but you'll loose some punch off the line. Also, consider a splitter up front, and a large wing out back that can generate the downforce needed to keep you from lifting.

200 mph in a street race? That doesn't seem likely or a good idea.
