The stock rockers are 1.6 ratio.
I would check valve to piston clearance before I ran engine however.

BTW, heads should have a good 3 angle valve job, it really does add to the flow.
IMHO a 750 vacuum...

I'd rather use anti-seize on the crank sprocket...

I'd rather use anti-seize on the crank sprocket as it makes it easy to remove just in case you ever need to do that.

Check the cam with a dial indicator on the rocker...

Check the cam with a dial indicator on the rocker arms, if it shows the lift being what it's supposed to be then the cam is good.....

1 bent pushrod is all you need to have things acting up.
Use a piece of window glass from the hardware store to check them.
Window glass is the least expensive flat surface I know of to check stuff...

Make sure that you still have some clearance...

Make sure that you still have some clearance between the valve guide and the retainer.
Also need to check the valve spring for clearance between the coils.
It could get real expensive if this areas...

400HP from a 302 costs a lot of money and it won't be 'streetable' either.

Build sounds decent to me except for the cam, I would go with some thing a little more modern than that.
To me 3.55 would be the minimum gear I would use and I would prefer a 3.73......

I'd be real careful about how much volume the intake port has on a 306-308 sized engine as well as my valve size unless you want some low RPM issues.
It's real easy to buy to much cylinder head...

He has more problems than a radiator.
Got an awfully lot of head on that thing for being just a 306.
Also, very few 306's need a 1 3/4" header.........
