I have used a product called "More Shine Less Time For Tires" by Stoner for years. I have never seen any degradation of the sidewall rubber from using it. I will continue to use it, works great.

No, radar/laser detectors are not perfect and won't save you from all tickets if you speed a lot. That said, I won't ever be without one. I feel mine improves my chances of avoiding tickets a lot.
