Anything sitting on the paint has the chance to scratch.....there will be vibrations. Maybe some of the clear bug guard material under the feet would help prevent scratches and scuffs plus it is easy...

I just use a trailer hitch with a removable bike rack.......easy, no damage to the body, plus the hitch might come in handy sometime.

Any window issues should always be addressed with the recalibrating method first.....there is also a method of pulling the fuse...

The fluid could need changing and bled. The fluid gets old and depending on the miles, can be very dirty. New fluid and bleeding would do the same as adjusting.... A lot of times, one can shift gears...

Compare the paint from other areas of the car that see no sunlight but are fully painted and clearcoated. Door jambs is a good location. Might see any color change there....
