I use a 24 inch extension with a swivel type socket, this will have the ratchet in front of the motor where you have plenty of room to do what you need to do. But as said earlier dont leave it out.

I would go with the trick flow setup or oem. Just make sure that whatever kit you get, the tensioners are the metal ones not plastic.

The bypass tube shouldn't have any rubber at all except coming from the end of the bypass tube going to the heater core and that should all be outside of the intake.
