If I were you, i'd stick with 17'sin the back, just to save money on tires. You can still get a rake if you put a taller tire on the back.

I'd just throw on some stock mufflers or flowmaster 50 series. I heard they're quiet. But the stock mufflers will be the quietest out of all of them. Look on Craigslist and you'll find a pair.

Did this only happen once? Go try it again and see if it happens. Were your tires spinning when it didn't shift? If my tires are spinning when its time to shift, it'll just bounce off the rev limiter...

A s197 has a different motor than your 2v. A tune will definitely help on your 02 GT. IMO, I don't think the intake is worth buying until you are pushing some more power.
