It's not so much "Don't like", it's more that I don't see the value in them. There is a very small difference in restriction (OEM and good aftermarket paper filters are actually pretty darn good)...

Could be. But, I did this on my old Saturn and after five years it hadn't come undone at all. The bumper cover kept it protected from the worst of the elements. Never had any trouble with it.
