Sounds to me like your timing is way out. As stated above pull the distributor back out bring #1 cylinder back up on compression stroke,drop the distributor back in with rotor pointing at #1.

I run 4cyl spindles on mine with cross drilled ranger rotors,and just used Mustang bearings. No problems here. Only thing I had to do is grind down the pads as they touch the rotor just a tad but...
