I think I'm just going to use the new PA wire, not both. If something doesn't work, I'll do a re-think.

Performance Power Wire

I called both PA and American Muscle. PA said they recommend using both wires, American Muscle said to just use the performance wire. Great. That really clears things up.

More questions

Can I use my new PA alternator (non-clutch pulley) as is, or do I have to put a clutch pulley on it before I install it?

I pulled the trigger and ordered the PA Alternator from AM along with the Upgraded Power Wire kit. Hope this solves my problem. With 130K miles on the clock, I'm sure it isn't wasted money.

Wow, I am reading some bad stuff about American Muscle service. I might end up getting an alternator from Rock Auto. I thought they (AM) were a good company.

Sounds reasonable.
I have seen countless posts that say when the alternator was replaced, P0340 code went away. Think I'll probable go with the 130 amp PA unit and the upgraded power wire kit.

PA Performance Alternator price

Is the PA Performance Alternator worth the price ($269.00) at American Muscle? I see new alternators at Rock Auto for $150-$185 with lifetime warranty, shipping about $9. Shipping from AM is free.
