Really sounds like fuel issue. Have you ever replaced your fuel filter? A dirty one will cause this issue. It's a pretty inexpensive thing to try before you drive yourself crazy.

If you want to retain the stock cats then you need to go with shorties. JBA, and BBK are fine. If you want to get longtubes then you'll have to buy a matching catted X or H midpipe to go with it....
