Instead of driving it, just jack it up and spin the wheels. They should all spin freely, and the same. Could be a caliper dragging or a bearing going out.

But that is the technicalities of who's warranty...

Unhook the battery, unplug the old unit and hook up the replacement. It's pretty straight forward. By passing it sounds shady. The CCRM controls a few things that I wouldn't want bypassed.

If there is a water/oil mix, it will be the head gasket on the 94 and early 95 cars. If it's not, you're looking at a crack in the block or head somewhere letting the two mix.

Yes, you need to measure the amount of gas you actually burn and divide it by the miles you drove to burn it. That is the ONLY way to measure MPG. Also, make sure your miles are reading correctly....
