we always use red high temp, as the rear end pinion gear, etc. area gets pretty hot but mainly because its stronger. I think not having those bolts back out at the worse situation is a good thing.

No, you dont need to do a roller cam conversion to do a 347. But keep in mind, since you are going to be in there why not do it? Its fairly easy and you dont have to worry about cam break in...
