You dondt need the tab.. instead drill a hole through the headlight bucket assembley and have it fasten to the inside of the front fender. with a bolt you will be able to get rid of that nasty gap...

I need to purchase a hood a 65 and was considering going with mustangsplus or California mustangs for their reproduction hoods not the ford tooling any input on the subject would be helpfull.

Well il give it a shot i cant afford to have my paint job ruined. il just heat it up slowly and pop it back with a wet rag and try to hammer and dolly it back smooth.
