installing custom things can lower the value.

the windows and locks do not affect the structure but they will work poorly and fail.

wow, yours was certainly beat to hell . . i have never "had" to replace them in any shifter, but i have on some just because, and yes, the new springs are sometimes stiffer than the old ones.

remove the return spring and try to wiggle the front shaft . . if it has much play in the base, that is your problem . . more preload on the spring might fix it.
