there are several places, NPD, Scott Drake, etc... parts houses like Mustangs Unlimited, CJ Pony Parts as well. As for who has the best, I'm not sure I haven't started replacing any of mine yet.

you can build a stout normally aspirated small block that will provide more power than the chassis can handle. I'd go that way- sure, supercharger is cool, but what you feel is kick in the ass power...

If jumping the solenoid terminals fixes the issue, then I'd replace the solenoid. Not uncommon for them to be affected by underhood heat as they get older. Make sure it's away from any heat sources.
