Picked up car today. Gears were 3.31 stock. The 3.73 feel like a good choice. I was concerned about being over torqued. I feel more when I stomp on it from stand still (break loose pretty easy)...

+1 on alternator or regulator. One of them are bad. If alterntor switch to 1 wire and loose the regulator

From a body standpoint - the rails, rockers, torque boxes, cowl, shock towers is where I always look for solidiness. Those can cost you big time in either money if farmed out or time if you are new...
