How old is the battery? Anytime my battery is over 5 years old, and I notice dimming lights etc., I change it. Good you got a new alternator for 'free' though.

Yes - just take the 4 bolts out and the seat comes out. And unplug the connectors. It is best to disconnect the battery just to be on the safe side.

Why would there be any more carbon monoxide in the cowl area than anywhere else. The exhaust is out the back. Unless there was an exhaust leak and you'd probably get that fixed.

It will be interesting to see if they changed it. If there was no oil residue on the axle then they probably didn't change it - unless you complained. A TSB isn't a safety recall.
