I think I recall that. Someone somewhere else was asking because some mechanic quoted him for ball joint replacement. At least it can be a DYI thing.

My car has 50k hard miles...crossing fingers.

You can run the stock plugs with a 75 shot. You'll be just fine.

If you have a tuner, you can pull two degrees of timing out of the tune. It's what I did for a few years and it worked great.

Probably just the throw out bearing/slave cylinder. I think I paid $450 five years ago to get mine replaced.

I think there was probably an installation problem here rather than a bad alt. Sounds more like a wire got crossed.

I can't believe you did not get a custom tune for a built motor. I've never heard of someone doing that.

I would guess that's the reason it failed. Could be wrong but IME it's a necessity.

With the 305/45/18 I had to put a different spring in to keep it from rubbing. With the 305/40 you'll probably be just fine.

I suspect tuning and then whomever built the engine bit without knowing more it's all just guesses.
